Cyndy Stephens Winchell has been training for nearly 30 years and judging for 20 years. She owns Stephens Performance Horses and co-owns Emerald Valley Equestrian Center with Julie Alonzo. Cyndy trains in many disciplines: Halter, English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Show Hack, Reining, Trail and Working Cow horse. She has trained and shown to National and World levels with Andalusians, Quarter Horses, Paint Horses, Arabians, Appaloosas some Morgans, and has most recently fallen in love with Andalusians—the breed which makes up the majority of her horses in training now—and has become quite a fixture at IALHA-sanctioned shows in the past few years.

What to expect:

Please come prepared to present yourself and your horse as though you were competing at an IALHA show. You will have the opportunity to be judged / observe people judged in five classes: Halter, English Pleasure, English Equitation, Western Pleasure, and Western Equitation. Following each class, Cyndy will provide brief feedback to each participant. At the end of the day, you will have the opportunity to receive much more detailed feedback while watching videotapes of the classes presented throughout the day. When you leave, you’ll take with you a written scorecard with specific suggestions to guide your improvement that you can use as you continue to school at home.

Please bring:

Auditors are always welcome!  ($45 charge applies)

Note: You can sign the release of liability in person on the day of the clinic: It is included here so you can review it at your leisure.

If you are coming from a distance, you are welcome to spend the night at the ranch. We can accommodate several people between Cyndy’s and Julie’s houses, both of which are located on site.

Finding us:

From I-5, take the Beltline Highway West exit (195B). When Beltline dead-ends onto West 11th / Highway 126, turn Right. Drive exactly 3.8 miles on Highway 126. Turn Right on Fisher Rd, which is the first road you’ll see after you pass a blue ‘Report Road Hazards’ sign on your right. Drive ½ mile. You’ll see our barn and white-railed paddocks on your Left, down the hill. Slow down! You’ll be turning into the 3rd gravel driveway you come to after you pass our sign. Once you’re on the gravel driveway, you’ll turn left onto the farm. Follow the gravel road past the paddocks and park down near the barn at the end of the driveway. Call Julie at (541) 513-6757 if you get lost.
